For every whisky fan surely Ireland is the place to be. But somethimes you want to see something else. Rent a car in Scotland and go on a whisky trip! Whisky has been produced in Scotland since medieval times. It is made from malt or grains and if you buy Scotch whisky today you can be sure that it has been destilled at least twice and matured in oak casks for at least 3 years.

Plan your whisky trip in Scotland and visit some of the best destilleries. Auto Europe offers modern but low priced car hire in Scotland. If you wish to swallow the golden drops of whisky you will need to find accomodation close by. Never drink and drive!

Here are some really nice whisky distilleries in Scotland:

Longmorn, Elgin

The small city of Elgin is situated on the A96, west of Inverness and east of Aberdeen. A couple of kilometres south of the city you will find the Longmorn distillery where whisky has been produced since 1894. This single malt whisky is really worth a visit! Remember to pre-book your visit, though.

Combine your visit with a stay at the Sunninghill Hotel in Elgin.

Balvenie, Speyside

From Longmorn head south to Dufftown. Here you will find the Balvenie distillery, which was founded in 1892 by William Grant (whom is mostly famous for the Grants whisky). Compared to Longmorn this is a more modern distillery with impressive buildnings and a smooth and elegant whisky.

In Dufftown there are a few smaller b&b:s where you can stay.

Springbank, Campbeltown

On the Kintyre peninsula, south of Glasgow layes the city of Campbeltown. The oldest distillery that this town has to offer is called Springbank. In 1828 this family distillery started and is still today family owned. Here everything is being done locally, from graining to botteling. Rent a car and discover the beautiful surroundings and get a bit of fresh sea air!

Just outside of the city you can stay at the Craigard-house, which is a recently converted Victorian Mansion by the Campbeltown Loch. Beautiful!

Talisker on the Isle of Skye

Isle of Skye is the largest and most northerly situated island in Scotland. Whisky making has been a tradition here since early 1830. Book a tour here and see the workers in action. With car hire you can also visit other, smaller distilleries on the Isle of Skye.

Stay at Phoenix house bed & breakfast in Carbost. The property was originally owned by the Talisker Distillery and is just a 5 minutes walk from there.

Be sure to never drink and drive! Auto Europe whish you a nice trip!

Some places on earth are simply too good to only exist in only one place. That is what the people behind these look-alike cities must be thinking.

In the US we are used to fake and copied architecture. In Las Vegas you can take a Venetian-feeling gondola ride on the artificial Gran Canal. The gondolier even sings in Italian… All this in the middle of the Nevada desert!

The Chinese wants to create their own little world and has recently copied an entire city! Several people have secretly been visiting the small Austrian city of Hallstatt to draw scetches of the houses and their interior. Despite of what the Austrians might feel the copycat city is almost completed by now. You can visit it near Huizhou 150 km north of Hong Kong.

In the Shanghai region in China a Scandinavian looking sub city has been built. It is called Luodian North Europe New Town and has many features from the Swedish town Sigtuna.

The same goes for Thames Town, also situated close to Shanghai. Here you can walk along English cobbled streets with houses in victorian style and pop in to an English pub or visit a church.

In the richest town in China (called Huaxi) a replica of the White House and the Arc de Triomphe in Paris as well as a copy of the Forbidden City has been built.

Dubai have a reputation of being a city with many skyscrapers and odd buildings. The business man Saeed Al Gandhi has taken an interest in the French city of Lyon and is currently building an exact copy of the Lyon latin quarters. All this is being constructed in the desert outside of Dubai!

With Auto Europe you can book cheap car hire and visit the real cities in Europe!

In 2011 over 1.3 million Irish visited the “Land of the setting sun“. Spain is and will continue to be one of the most important summer destinations for the Irish. And what’s not to like? 300 days of sunshine per year, sand beaches, attractions and tasty food. With car hire in Spain you’re blessed with a great opportunity to explore this country in your own pace.
Costa de La Luz
In south west Spain, close to the Portuguese border you find Costa de La Luz (Coast of Light). Start your journey in Gibraltar, Sevilla or Jerez and continue west! Although Sevilla has many attractions such as fine architecture, cathedrals and beautiful bridges this part of Spain have less charter tourists and provides a more genuine part of Andalucia, if you compare it with tourist areas on the Costa del Sol.

Try the local sherry from Jerez or tast sweet strawberries, oranges and other fruits cultivated in this lush area.

Costa del Sol
If you are looking for a vibrant, sunny and international place you should pick up your car hire in Malaga! Here you’ll get instant access to British pubs, modern infrastructor, nice beaches and plenty of restaurants and hotels. Drive east to the city of Nerja. Visit the Nerja Cave with impressive stalactites and stalagmites. The small city it self is also worth a visit. Small resorts like Torremolinos, Fuengirola, Estepona and of course also Marbella can easily be reached if you drive west.

Almería makes out the centre of the Costa Tropical. With a rental car in Almería you can drive both east and west. This coastline is much more genuine and layed back than Cost del Sol. Many Spaniards vacation in this area. Almuñécar offers fine historic features as well as nice beaches.

After a hectic day full of impressions it can be nice to relax in a green city park. Bring a blanket, a pick nick basket and a nice book. Find a place in the shade or stretch out in the sun for a while. Auto Europe has gathered some useful information about the best city parks in the world. Enjoy!

Central Park
Location: New York, USA
We must start with the world’s most famous city park – Central Park in Manhattan. It was opened in 1857 and today it covers an area of 843 acres. This park gets visited by over 37,5 million people every year! With its open areas and beautiful nature is has become a sanctuary for many New Yorkers. Here you will find ice-skating rinks, running tracks, a Wildlife Park and much more. The most famous attractions are: The Central Park Zoo, The Delacorte Theatre, The Belvedere Castle from 1869, The Lake, The Reservoir and The Pond. During the summer months there are often outdoor concerts on the Summerstage. Travel to New York and experience Central Park!

Parc des Buttes Chaumont
Location: Paris, France
This park is located in the 19th arrondissement in Paris. It was created in 1867 and is 67 acres big. Planning a romantic weekend in Paris? Then this park is a must see! It has several cliffs, romantic bridges (both stone and suspension bridges), waterfalls and a lake. Apart from this you will find several English and Chinese gardens with many flower species and exotic trees. A visit to the Belvedere of Sybil is really a must. It is a temple situated on a rocky peak almost 30 meters over the lake. If you forgot to bring your own lunch you can stay calm. In the park there are no less than three nice restaurants.

Buen Retiro Park
Location: Madrid, Spain
This 350 acres large park is really a haven for the sunburned tourist. Here you will find a nice spot in the shades for munching on your tortilla. The park dates back to the 16th century and is a real eye-candy for architecture freaks. Statues, sculptures and beautiful buildings fill the park. Stroll along the shores of the lake and visit the spectacular Monument to Alfonso XII or smell the wonderful roses in Rosaleda Rose Garden.

Bukit Timah Nature Reserve
Location: Singapore
Singapore is an amazing city in many ways. This little island which is no bigger than 710 square km is home for almost 5,2 million people! To fit that many people buildings are extended upwards. Wherever you look there are big skyscrapers and there is always some construction going on. With this in mind it is easy to understand why the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve is so popular. Once you enter the park you understand that its major attractions are strolling, running, biking and its many exotic flowers and trees. This is a park for relaxation!

Ueno Park
Location: Tokyo, Japan
The best time to visit this spacious park must undoubtedly be in the spring when the over 800 cherry trees blossom! The park was opened in 1873 and is the most popular one in Japan. Apart from the exotic trees and the nice pond you can also visit several museums in the park as well as many cultural and sacred places. A visit in the park is a nice contrast to the buzzing city of Tokyo.
