When people go on holidays they usually want one of two things. Many simply want to relax, take a break from the busy every day life and just enjoy the quietness while lying on the beach.
Those people also want to party at night till they drop dead in the morning, leading to the aforementioned lying on the beach, on a never ending cycle of vertical/horizontal successions.
And then there are the thrill-seekers, the ones jumping off planes, climbing mountains and diving into scary-looking, spider-infested caves. In an effort to turn me from one type to the other, my sister is taking me to South Africa over the Summer, for an exciting adventure! Take a look at what we’ll be doing!
Table Mountain – We’ll pick up a car hire in Cape Town and head off to Table Mountain, so named because of its flat top. I’ll try to see how fast I can get my neck broken while rock climbing. 😉 Hopefully not too soon, there’s a bet going. 😛
Cango Caves – Miles and miles of dark caves, charming pools and funnily-shaped helictites and crystals. The names of the hallmarks around the route are certainly evocative, including the Coffin, the Devil’s Chimney and the Ice-Cream Parlour.
Cradle of Humankind – With a car hire in Johannesburg, it’s easy to get to this famous World Heritage Site where some of the older human remains on Earth have been found.
Mpumalanga – More opportunities for me to get my neck broken trying to defy gravity! But prevail I shall! Besides rock climbing, Mpumalanga is also a great spot for caving, biking, rafting and big game viewing, so I must remember to take my binoculars.
What else should I include in my itinerary? Any suggestions?
