Ireland has a wealth of lush green countryside just waiting to be explored! To restrict yourself to the cities would mean missing out on its natural beauty, great historic sights and of course meeting the friendly village locals.
Collect your car hire from Dublin along the east coast and head out in any direction, you are sure too find a treat.
Only a 25 minute drive from Dublin is the seaside town of Bray. Referred to as the gateway to the Garden of Ireland, here you can take a scenic cliff walk along the eastern side of Bray Head. Kilruddery House and gardens are also worth a visit here.
Drive further inland to visit Athlone. Located along the River Shannon this historic town has a beautiful church and a pub, Sean’s Bar, which is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest pub in Europe.
An hour north of Dublin is Glendalough. The town is a glacial valley and famous for its monuments. Here you will find a round tower, a cathedral, a priests’ house and a large number of churches.
With a car hire you can wander off the normal tourist track and discover some fantastic places!
