With all this recent buzz about the British Royal Wedding, we thought it would be a great idea to go on a whim and tour the Loire Valley, a region in France boasting over 300 castles. So there is plenty to go around, it seems!
Hiring a car in Tours lets you drive with the utmost comfort and enjoy beautiful landscapes along the way. Be sure you brush up on your French as this is a place known to be where the purest form of the language is spoken; However, you most likely will be in awe during the whole trip, so no words will be necessary!
Around town, visit the Cathedral and don’t miss out on the charming medieval quarter that is Le Vieux Tours, the perfect location to savour a cup of coffee while admiring the half-timbered buildings of Place Plumereau. But what are you doing, still lingering about in the city centre?
Venture out to Château de Villandry and explore the Rennaissance-like gardens that attract tourists every year, from all over the world.
Ready for more castle goodness? Then head in your France car hire to Blois, from where you can explore other two major castles in the region: the Chambord and the Chaumount châteaux.
Since 2010, Blois has become more than a castle paradise by hosting another interesting attraction – the Fantasy Forest. Here you can lavish on numerous activities, from paintball to trampolines… Not very royal, I know, but at least it will keep everyone happy and the kids will surely return with a smile on their faces during the drive home!
