We have created a list of useful pieces of information for you to go smoothly through your booking process and the car hire itself. Here are do’s and don’ts for your car hire.
Auto Europe is an international car hire broker with over 8,000 locations around the globe with different car hire companies. Therefore, we are able to provide you with a tailored offer for your needs. You can look through all suppliers and their hire conditions on our booking mask to find a perfect combination, or simply, call our toll free number for car hire assistance!
Before you book
What kind of car do you need? If you are not going to drive long distances, do not have much luggage, and there are only 2 people travelling – go for a mini or economy class, the rental fee will be lower. If you are traveling with kids and have many pieces of luggage – book an estate or van to accommodate all your belongings and family members.
Insurance – please read carefully Terms, Conditions & Local Fees section on our booking mask. You can verify in there, what kind of insurance is included in the booking fee, and what other policy you can purchase locally. Please check your excess amount, as it is usually blocked as a security deposit on the primary driver’s credit card.
Fuel – there is ‘full to full’ and ‘full to empty’ fuel policy, the latter requires fuel fee at the pick up. Usually ‘full to empty’ option is restricted to a given number of rental days. Please check this information, as you may choose to book with different supplier. Generally, ‘full to full’ option is the most economical one.
Rental age – our suppliers share various age policies, please check the young and senior driver fees.
Additional driver – registered and paid for locally. Some offers include additional driver in the rates!
All additional equipment is to be paid locally at the pick up, prices can be viewed on our website.
If you choose to book a child seat, please provide your child’s age and weight in the booking request.
Ski racks – please include the number of skis you are going to bring.
Winter tyres are mandatory in some European countries, and therefore you might need to pay for them during the winter months.
GPS – can also be booked on our website.
Snow chains – unfortunately we are not able to confirm snow chains – they need to be requested locally at the pick up.
During your car hire
Credit Card. Have your credit card with you at the pick up! Car hire companies block security deposit (minimum amount: excess + fuel + VAT) on the driver’s credit card. If you forget your one, the supplier has the right to deny the rental vehicle!
Flight delays. When your flight is delayed – call the rental desk to advise about your flight delay and arrival time!
Insurance. Please never sign any rental document prior reading it carefully! If you apply for an additional insurance – please make sure to have it explained! Additional local insurance is not mandatory!
Fuel. Check the fuel gauge – start the engine to verify the actual amount of fuel and return the car full/empty according to your fuel policy. If you need to return it full – please keep the petrol station receipt.
Vehicle. If the car is not roadworthy – please report it and change it. The car size you receive must match the category you booked.
Problems. If you have any difficulties at the pick up – call us! If you have an accident – call the car hire company, road assistance and the police if needed.
Please always feel free to call our toll free number for assistance, either before booking or at the pick up time. Our agents will help you with any car hire enquiry!
