April getaways

Are you taking some days off in April? Auto Europe has some ideas for your holiday this month. If you are looking for a short term getaway, check out the destinations we find worth visiting.

Charles Bridge, PraguePrague

A short flight to Prague will bring you into a different world. You can spend your few days off on sightseeing the historical sites of Czech capital, walk in the evenings along Vitava’s bank, and sip Czech beer in one of the local pubs. A must see: Charles Bridge, Prague Castle, The Old Town Square with the world’s oldest astronomical clock.

Statue of a boy, Krakow

Our second choice is Krakow – a former Polish capital city from 1038 to 1569. Krakow is now one of the largest student centres in Poland. It is home to the oldest Polish university founded in 1364 and is literally full of young people. A must see: Old Town – listed as UNESCO world heritage site, the main square – the largest medieval town square in Europe and Jagiellonian University buildings.

Stari Grad, Croatia

Hvar, Croatia

Our third destination is more quiet and warmer: Stari Grad on the island of Hvar in Croatia. Hire a car and visit one of the most beautiful islands in the Adriatic Sea. Fly to Split, get our car hire from the airport, and head to Stari Grad on the island of Hvar – one of the oldest cities in Europe founded by Ancient Greeks in 384 BC. Throughout the coming ages, the city has been conquered by Romans, Venetians, and Turks to become a part of Austro-Hungarian Empire in the 19th century. A walk through the city’s streets is therefore a walk through history. Must see: Stari Grad Harbour, The Stari Grad Plain  – UNESCO World Heritage Site – the best preserved example of ancient Greek agriculture, with stone walls and water collection system dating 24 centuries back that is still in use (!), and a Renaissance Tvrdalj Castle.
